Bootleg Hill Honey Meads, a licensed meadery, is dedicated to mead of the highest quality at affordable prices. Our honey is unprocessed directly from the hive. We prefer a more natural approach with no sulfites added - however, our meads may contain naturally occurring sulfites.  Our meads are made to be enjoyed or aged for years.

Origin

 Bootleg Hill Honey Meads was founded in 2013 by Rick Harris. Rick an avid homebrewer in the local home brewing community noticed a lack of meads in the local market. He decided to start his own meadery in his basement in East Moline, Illinois. The original location was actually the former home of a 1920’s bootlegger. The house was in a neighborhood once referred to as Bootleg Hill. After converting his basement to a production only meadery he set out across the state of Illinois self distributing. After a couple years in East Moline Rick decided to move to our current location in downtown Davenport, Iowa.

We offer or plan to offer the following meads:

• Traditional Meads with no additional ingredients only honey both semi-sweet and dry.

• Melomels which is mead made with honey and fruit.

• Metheglin which is made with honey and spices.

• Black Mead which is made with honey and black currants.

• Cyser which is made with honey and apples or apple juice

• Bochet which is made with caramelized honey.

• Session meads also called Hydromel lower alcohol meads made with ale or lager yeast.

• Capsicumel which is made with honey and hot peppers.

• Barrel aged meads which is mead aged in wood barrels.

Our new taproom 321 E 2nd Street Suite 200 Davenport IA 52801 offers you the ability to try many different varieties of meads and mead cocktails. We also serve beer and wine.
